5 Great Playgrounds in Skagit: Stanwood/Camano/Arlington/Skagit County

We are lucky in Skagit to have so many great playgrounds and parks to explore. From swings to slides, to climbing walls and water features, Stanwood/Camano - Arlington and Skagit parks and playgrounds keep my kids active, are a great place to meet old friends (and make new! friends), and they're FREE!

I often get asked what our favorite playgrounds are, so I thought I'd share here with you my family's picks for our top five playgrounds and parks to visit in Skagit.




Lake Goodwin

Stanwood, WA 98292 

What we love about Lake Goodwin: 

Formerly a resort and tavern property, this 14.26-acre site along Lakewood Road, five miles northwest of Marysville, was acquired by Snohomish County in 1996 and opened for public use in 2006.

Freedom Park

What we love about Freedom Park: 

Freedom Park is a public park for locals and tourists.  This amazing 12,000 sq ft. wooden playground,  is visible from the highway, and kids will begging you to stop the car to play. While parents relax under the covered picnic area, kids will be busy on the climbing wall, slides, Viking ship, rings, instrument area and much more. There are play areas for both older and younger kids.

Little Mountain Park

What we love about Little Mountain Park: 

A trip to Little Mountain Park is sure to be rewarding for everyone, no matter age or ability. Come in the morning for trail running before breakfast. Drive to the summit in the afternoon for a picnic at the south viewpoint overlooking central Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountain Range. Or visit the north viewpoint and watch a summer sunset over the San Juan Islands and North Puget Sound.

Hillcrest Park

What we love about Hillcrest Park: 

This 30.75-acre park is located in the middle of beautiful Mount Vernon. With picnic shelters, multiple playgrounds, sports facilities, and open space, this Mount Vernon gem has something for everyone.

This two acre neighborhood park is close to Kruger and Portage Creeks and is within walking distance of Kent Prairie Elementary.
