5 Indoor Activities for Kids in Stanwood/Camano/Skagit/Arlington

May 14, 2019

Is the weather outside frightful? Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered (no pun intended!) with these 5 ideas for indoor activities in Stanwood/Camano, Arlington, and Skagit County with kids:

1. Open Gym - Ground Zero Gymnastics

Location: 2201 Continental Place, Mount Vernon, Washington

Cost: $5 ($3 per each additional sibling)

Hours: Friday's 11am - 1pm

Why my kids like it: They love the FOAM PIT! They also love the access to all the equipment with no "regimented" class.

Why I like it: I feel like we are family. The staff at Ground Zero make you feel welcome from the first time you walk in. They are always excited to see us.

2. Jungle Playland

Location: 2901 Martin Rd. Mt Vernon, WA 98273

Cost: $3 - $9

Hours: Sunday - Friday 12pm - 5pm,  Saturday 10am - 7pm. CLOSED Tuesday's

Why my kids like it: My kids enjoy active play across a number of fun activities, including a huge multi level jungle themed adventure play frame! It's here they can enjoy time playing in features like the tropical rain ball pit, or they can scale new heights with the kiddie sized rock climbing wall.

Why I like it: It's inside, and contained! We can spend all day there! Here's just some of the fun things you can do: Kids (and adults) can race down the triple waterfall slide, or spin through the double twister, if you are feeling brave! That's all before you blast off through the dark tunnel too!

You can swing like Tarzan, be cool like Jane, and let those imaginations run wild, before playing arcade games, riding the lion or driving the jungle jeep!

Did we mention that you can even beat to the sound of your own drum and make music in the fun sound bubble?

Jungle Playland also has a dedicated zone for under 2s with smaller versions of the big fun and some age appropriate toys and challenges of their own

During the summer there is an outdoor splash park with interactive water jets and other fun features.

So enjoy a WILD and playful family day out in Jungle Playland, where the magic of the jungle is all around you, so let's get playing!

3. Children's Museum of Skagit County

Location: 550 Cascade Mall Dr, Burlington, WA 98233

Cost: $6.25 children under 12 months free

Hours: Monday - Saturday 10am - 5pm Sunday 12pm - 5pm

Why my kids like it: Each exhibit offers something different, so no matter what your child's learning ability or interests, they will be able to work at their own pace in an environment that excites them! I have kids ranging in ages from 4yr - 10yr. They all have a blast!

Why I like it: It's learning while having fun!!

4. Twin City Lanes and Trophy

Location: 27120 92nd Ave NW, Stanwood, Washington

Cost: $6/Adult $5.50/Kids under 15 *price includes shoes and one game

Hours: Please call for business hours, open bowling times, and trophy order pick up/drop off times: (360) 629-3001

Why my kids like it: It has all they want, bowling (lane bumpers too), snacks, and some arcade games.

Why I like it:  You don't find bowling alleys that still have the traditional carpets and small town feel anymore, this place is a hidden gem. It is small and comfortable, just as it should be.

5. Location: Sno-Isle Library: Story time

Cost: FREE!!

Hours: Varies. Check the events page HERE for story times happening weekly

Why my kids like it:  They love to "check" books out. I think they feel like a grown up purchasing something from a store.

Why I like it: I love having a place to go when it's cold or rainy. The inviting feel of the library with an endless supply of books at your fingertips. My kids creative minds come alive there!
