Listing of local events to get kids out the door and active!!

Get those kids active, inside or outside.  Set the example and make fitness a family event. Here are the events in Skagit Valley this week to get your kids active!  Also, check out the upcoming events!

Saturday September 11 - Sunday September 12:  The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is holding a fundraising bike ride that will feature 2500 participants!  Skagit County Fairgrounds will be the home base for the event, but it will be a two day journey through Skagit, Whatcom and Island Counties ranging from 22 to 92 miles.  For more information, to participate or sponsor a rider visit:  http://bikewas.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Bike/WASBikeEvents?fr_id=13100&pg=entry

Saturday September 11: Friends of the Forest Hikes.  Join the Friends of the Forest for a guided late summer hike on September 11th from 10:00am to noon. This hike will feature mitten Pond Loop and is open to all ages. Summer isn’t over yet! The cool smell of water floats up the path as we near Mitten Pond. Whirligig beetles spin shining patterns in the glowing green duckweed. Dragonflies drift and zoom around us. Sound good? Please come along! Meet at the ACFL kiosk on A Ave. and 37th.

Enduring Freedom 5k Run!  Starts at 9:30am, Windjammer Park.   Free to participate.  Pre-register by September 8th or register/check in the day of from 8-9:15am.  360-257-2433/9018 for more info.

Plan Ahead:

Friday, September 17th:  Free Stroller Strides Class!  These classes are free to first timers, returning members & class pass holders (members have unlimited classes).  The first one is Sept 17th at Bakerview Park in Mount Vernon at 10:00am.  Please come join us!  This is a great activity for a club or moms group!

Sundays, September 19th, 26th and October 3rd: Skagit Valley Flyers Lacrosse Clubs presents an introductory lacrosse clinic!  Are you ready to learn the FASTEST game on two feet?  Lacrosse was created by Native Americans and is now played throughout the world.   This beginners' clinic will teach you the fundamentals of lacrosse; throwing and catching, scooping ground balls, simple offense and defense and most importantly having fun!  Come see why lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the United States!  Grades 1-6: 3:30 - 4:30pm; Grades 7-12: 4:30 - 5:30pm.  Storvik Park in Anacortes.  contact svflyers@gmail.com for more information!  No equipment required!!
